Diego M. Rosa
Diego Gualtiero Maria Rosa OSBOliv (born February 20, 1953 in Borgo Poncarale (BS) , Italy ) is Abbot of Monte Oliveto Maggiore .
Life
After graduating from high school, Diego Rosa entered the Olivetan Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore as a postulant and made his temporary profession on August 13, 1972 and his perpetual profession on September 8, 1976 . He was ordained a priest on June 22, 1980 . On January 22nd, 2000, Father Rosa was elected Abbot of the Monastery of Santa Maria del Pilastrello in Lendinara . The blessing he received on 13 February 2000. As the successor of Michelangelo Riccardo Maria Tiribilli he was elected on 21 October 2010 for the abbot of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. The papal confirmation as territorial abbot took place on October 16. His motto Sub tuum praesidium ("Under your protection") comes from the initial words of the Marian antiphon Sub tuum praesidium .
When he was elected abbot of the Monte Oliveto Maggiore monastery, Father Rosa also became Abbot General of the Olivetans , that is, head of the international “Congregation of Monte Oliveto” within the Benedictine Confederation .
