Diego de Aguero

Diego de Agüero y Sandoval (* 1511 in Deleitosa , † 1544 in Lima ) was a Spanish conquistador .

Life

Agüero was the son of García González de Agüero and María de Sandoval. He went to Peru with Francisco Pizarro after he had signed the Toledo surrender . De Agüero took part in the Tumbes landing , in the founding of San Miguel de Tangarará , in the march on Cajamarca and in the capture of Atahualpa .

De Aguero was an explorer of the Collao plateau and the islands of Lake Titicaca , and supported Diego de Almagro in the conquest of Quito , where Aguero managed to get Pedro de Alvarado to agree to the surrender of his army to Pizarro and only demand compensation of 100,000 pesos .
