history

Visibly installed: Documentation of the well sponsorship of the "Haus & Grund / Community Foundation"

The widowed Minna Struckmeyer offered the city of Hanover a gift of a fountain in 1910. At a public meeting of the city colleges, the city gratefully accepted the donation. City director Heinrich Tramm expressed the wish "... that in the interest of the beautification of the city this good example might find frequent followers."

The Hanoverian sculptor Roland Engelhard created the basin and the well shaft with relief from Bavarian shell limestone . "Perhaps the ... chosen motif of the children's dance alludes to the purpose of the" Heinrich Struckmeyer donation "[made in 1902]". In the raised inscription on the edge of the pool , however, “Struckmeier” was written with an “i”.

On June 30, 1911, the fountain was inaugurated at its current location .

The Haus & Grund community foundation, founded in 1984, has taken on a so-called “fountain sponsorship” for the Struckmeier fountain.
