Dieter Blochel (born March 26, 1941 - † August 18, 2018 ) was a soccer goalkeeper in Hennigsdorf , at 1. FC Union Berlin and in Velten . For 1. FC Union Berlin, he played one season in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association .

Career as a soccer player

Before Blochel joined the first division club 1. FC Union Berlin in 1966, he had been a goalkeeper for the second-class GDR division , the company sports association (BSG) Motor Hennigsdorf . With the experience of only one GDR league season, Hennigsdorf had previously played in the Potsdam district league , Blochel moved to East Berlin in the summer of 1966 to become the second goalkeeper behind Peter Blüher . After Blochel was used only four times in league games and once in a cup game in the 1966/67 season, he returned to Motor Hennigsdorf after the end of the season.

With Motor Hennigsdorf Blochel played in the GDR league until 1969 and after the team was relegated for one season in the district league. When the BSG Motor missed the recovery, he moved to the 1970/71 season for city rivals BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf , with whom he initially only played in the district league. Stahl finished the season as district champion and rose to the GDR league with Blochel. Blochel played there with BSG Stahl until 1978. He then returned to the Potsdam district league for the 1978/79 and 1979/80 seasons and became a goalkeeper at BSG Chemie Velten . He then rejoined Stahl Hennigsdorf, who is now 39 years old, but was only classified as the second goalkeeper there behind Bernd Müller, who was 14 years younger. When Müller moved to Chemie Velten in 1982, Blochel moved back up to number one. In 1984 Stahl Hennigsdorf was relegated to the district league again, and a year later Blochel ended his career as a competitive athlete at the age of 44.
