Dieter Frankenberger (born February 6, 1933 in Schweinfurt ; † July 3, 1997 in Bad Kissingen ) was professor of industrial engineering with a focus on electronic data processing and logistics at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (now the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences ).

Life

Frankenberger was born as the son of the manager of the gas and water works in Schweinfurt Karl Frankenberger and his wife Anni Frankenberger (née Sachs). After graduating from high school in 1953, he attended a technical internship at FAG Kugelfischer Schweinfurt and a commercial internship at the same company and the Bayerische Staatsbank in Schweinfurt .

From 1953 Frankenberger was enrolled in the industrial engineering course at the Technical University of Darmstadt , which he finished in February 1958 with a degree in industrial engineering. As a postgraduate, he completed a specialization course in "Computer Science and Business Administration", also at the TH Darmstadt, which he successfully completed in 1960.

From 1959 he worked at Standard Elektrik Lorenz AG (SEL) in Stuttgart , entered 1961 in the Agfa -Camerawerk in Munich and was established in 1963 as an employee of the board for business and organizational special functions and direct reporting authority to the Director General at Klöckner Humboldt Deutz AG in Active in Cologne .

In 1966, Frankenberger began his work as a lecturer and building officer at the Balthasar-Neumann-Polytechnikum of the Lower Franconia district in Schweinfurt, which was transferred to the newly founded "Fachhochschule Würzburg-Schweinfurt" from 1971. Training in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial engineering took place at the Schweinfurt location. Frankenberger, initially head of the general science department, was entrusted with the further development and expansion of the industrial engineering degree course. In 1978 he was appointed professor.

For several decades, Frankenberger headed the industrial engineering course in Schweinfurt. In addition, he was asked to join various appointment committees to select potential professors at other Bavarian universities of applied sciences.

In addition to his work as a study advisor, from 1975 onwards Frankenberger worked for over a decade as chairman of the Federal Working Group on Industrial Engineering at Universities of Applied Sciences, from 1978 also as chairman of the Bavarian Commission for Industrial Engineering Training (BayKoWi) and from 1979 to 1981 he was chairman of the Bavarian Specialized Commission for Industrial Engineering Training. As an honorary philistine of the Grenzmark student union and old man of the Franko Warnia, he felt very connected to the students throughout his life.

In 1995 Dieter Frankenberger retired.

He was married to the chemical technician Rosemarie Frankenberger, b. Lotz and had two children, Bernd Frankenberger and Jutta Gröschel.

Act

Dieter Frankenberger was one of the pioneers of the industrial engineering course in Germany, first in the west until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, then also in the new federal states of Germany. For several years and repeatedly he was federal chairman of the industrial engineering working group. With his publications "Gieseking-Studienführer für die Fachhochschulbereich" (1979) and "Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieurin" (1990), he not only analyzed the industrial engineering course, but also showed the most diverse perspectives in professional application. In addition to the theoretical training of his students, the presentation of the practical reference to later work as an industrial engineer was a major concern for him.

In order to demonstrate the broad professional spectrum and the variety of uses as an industrial engineer, Dieter Frankenberger organized a large number of day visits to national industrial companies in a wide variety of sectors and directions. Frankenberger proved the international importance of the course and its global links by making visits to the major industries in the regions of the twin cities of Schweinfurt, to Motherwell ( Scotland ), Seinajöki ( Finland ) and Chateaudun ( France ) possible for over a decade Sponsored student exchange programs with Preston Polytechnic ( UK ).

Frankenberger built an exemplary network with industry and business for his department at the FH Würzburg-Schweinfurt. This still serves today to promote the technology and knowledge transfer of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the economy or other non-university organizations.
