Dieter Fuchs (political scientist)

Dieter Fuchs (* 1946 ) is a German political scientist. His main areas of work include democratic theory and the comparative analysis of political systems . From 2001 to 2015 he was professor at the Institute for Social Sciences at the University of Stuttgart , where he headed the department for political theory and empirical democracy research .

Fuchs received his doctorate in 1988 from the University of Mannheim and completed his habilitation in 1994 at the Free University of Berlin . From 1989 to 2001 he was a Senior Fellow at the Social Science Research Center in Berlin . As a temporary professor, he held the chair for comparative analysis of political systems, movements and cultures at the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt (Oder) from 1996 to 1997 .
