André Brodocz (* 1969 ) is a German political scientist and university professor .

Life

Brodocz began studying political science, sociology and modern German literature at the Philipps University in Marburg in 1991, graduating in 1996 with a degree in political science . Between 1997 and 2001 he worked as a research associate at the Institute for Political Science at the Technical University of Dresden , where he in 2001 with a thesis on the symbolic dimension of the Constitution , which by Hans Vorländer was cared for by Dr. phil. received his doctorate . For the next seven years, Brodocz held the same position at the Collaborative Research Center 537 Institutionality and Historicity at the TU Dresden. There he completed his habilitation in 2007 with a paper on the power of the judiciary .

During the 2007/08 and 2008/09 winter semesters, Brodocz took over the chair for political theory and the history of ideas at the TU Dresden before accepting a professorship for political theory at the University of Erfurt in spring 2009 . From July 2011 to October 2015 Brodocz was Dean of the Political Science Faculty at the University of Erfurt. Since 2018 he has held the office of dean again, in which he was confirmed in autumn 2019.

Research activity

André Brodocz's research focuses on contemporary political theory, constitutional theory and institutional theory .

For his work The Symbolic Dimension of the Constitution , he received the 2001 graduate award for the best dissertation from the Philosophical Faculty of the TU Dresden.

Brodocz has been a member of the board of the Political Theories and History of Ideas section of the German Association for Political Science since 2003 , of which he is now spokesman. Between 2003 and 2009, Brodocz and Marcus Llanque were founding members of the DVPW thematic group Constitution and Politics . Since 2007 he has been a member of the Constructivist Conflict Research Network (NeKoKo) funded by the German Research Foundation . In addition, Brodocz has been a member of the Faculty Council of the Political Science Faculty of the University of Erfurt since 2009, where he is the spokesman for the social sciences course and a liaison professor for the Heinrich Böll Foundation .

Since 2010, André Brodocz has published the newly founded magazine for political theory together with Gary S. Schaal and Marcus Llanque and the series Wirtschaft und Politik at Springer Verlag with Gerhard Wegner and Guido Mehlkop .
