Javier Botet (* 30 July 1977 in Ciudad Real as Javier Botet López ) is a Spanish actor .

Career

Javier Botet's film career began in 2005 in the horror film Beneath Still Waters directed by Brian Yuzna . In 2007 he played the role of Niña Medeiros in the horror film REC, directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza . Javier Botet was also in front of the camera in the sequels REC 2 (2009) and REC 3: Genesis (2012), which is a prequel to the first part, and REC 4: Apocalypse (2014). In addition to commitments in short films, he played the role of the 2012 Mama in the eponymous horror film Mama , who in 2013 was released.

When he was five years old, he was diagnosed with Marfan's syndrome , a disease that causes people to grow unnaturally tall, with long, thin limbs, fingers, and joints that can be overstretched. Even if the side effects of the illness are sometimes dangerous - Botet finds it difficult to breathe - he uses his physical characteristics caused by the illness to create film characters like Mama and Medeiros ( REC ), whom he embodies in the films.
