Dieter Gosewinkel

Dieter Gosewinkel (born September 24, 1956 in Fürth (Odenwald) ) is a German historian and legal scholar .

Live and act

Gosewinkel spent his school days in Hamm (Westphalia), studied law and modern history at the Universities of Freiburg and Geneva from 1976 to 1984, and passed the first state examination in 1982 in Freiburg, where he also obtained a master's degree in modern history in 1984 . From 1983 to 1990 Gosewinkel worked at the Institute for Public Law at Ernst-Wolfgang Böckenförde in Freiburg . In 1990 Adolf Arndt started working . The reestablishment of the rule of law from the spirit of social democracy (1945–1961) his doctorate as Dr. phil. Then Gosewinkel worked as a research assistant with Arnulf Baring at the Free University of Berlin , where he started the study Naturalization and Exclusion in 2000 . The nationalization of citizenship from the German Confederation to the Federal Republic of Germany qualified as a professor.

From 2002 Gosewinkel headed the research group Civil Society, Citizenship and Political Mobilization in Europe at the Science Center Berlin for Social Research , in 2011 he took over the management of the Center for Global Constitutionalism there . Since 2009 Gosewinkel has also been an adjunct professor at the Free University of Berlin. In his research he mainly deals with questions of the history of citizenship and civil society, the constitutional history of Germany and Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the political history of Germany and France in the 20th century.

Gosewinkel was elected chairman of the Association for Constitutional History in February 2018 .
