Dieter H. Stündel

Dieter H. Stündel (* 1947 in Siegen ) is a German translator and journalist .

From 1971, studied it German , English Studies and Media Studies in Cologne . In 1979 he completed his studies with a Magister Artium . In 1982 he received his doctorate on Arno Schmidt's Zettel's dream in Siegen. From 1971 to 1988 he was a freelance journalist for the Siegener Zeitung , from 1978 to 1980 he was a freelancer for Deutschlandfunk in Cologne. From 1981 to 2007 he was a permanent freelancer in the WDR studio in Siegen . Since 2004 teaching position for creative writing at the University of Siegen .

His translations and literary work mainly focus on Arno Schmidt, James Joyce and Lewis Carroll . Among the translations, particular mention should be made of Finnegans Wehg - Kainnäh ÜbelSätzZung by Wehrkeß fun Schämes Scheuss (1993), the first and so far only complete German translation of Finnegans Wake by James Joyce.
