Dieter Kapphahn

Dieter Kapphahn (born June 22, 1940 - October 14, 2019 ) was a German pilot . In 1968 he became team world champion in motor aerobatics .

Life

Kapphahn was a pilot of Interflug and flew the Ilyushin Il-18 and Ilyushin Il-62 there . Until November 1, 1979 he was the squadron leader of the Il-18 squadron.

In the 1960s, Kapphahn was a member of the GDR's national aerobatic team, which in 1964 with its trainer Fritz Fliegauf took third place in the team rankings at the world championships in Bilbao and thus achieved its first international success. In 1966 he reached third place in the team ranking at the motor aerobatic world championships in Tuschino together with Erwin Bläske , Günter Börner, Peter Kahle, and Heinz Hübler. At the aerobatic world championships in Magdeburg in 1968 , he won the team title together with Erwin Bläske and Peter Kahle.
