Dieter Kurth 1984

Dieter Kurth (born September 15, 1962 in Hildburghausen ) is a former soccer player. He played for BSG Motor Suhl in 1984/85 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association . He later became a football coach for lower-class teams.

In 1977, Dieter Kurth registered with the youth team of the company sports association (BSG) Motor ESKA in his home town of Hildburghausen. At BSG ESKA he played until the end of the 1980/81 season, most recently in the third-class district league Suhl . In July 1981 he moved to the GDR league team BSG Motor Suhl, but had to do his military service for a year and a half after just four months. For the 1983/84 season he was again available to Motor Suhl and became one of the guarantors for the successful fight for promotion to the top division. Of the 30 point and promotion round matches played, the 1.74 m tall Kurth played 28 matches and, with his ten goals, was one of the three most dangerous goal-scoring players in Suhl. In the league season 1984/85 he was missing in the first half of the season in only one encounter, but of the 13 second round games he played only eight games, so that he had to show 20 league appearances at the end of the season. Under first division conditions he came, mostly called up in midfield, only one goal this season. Goal poverty was also the hallmark of the entire Suhl team, which only scored 16 goals in the 26 games. On the other hand, they conceded 92 goals and consequently rose again as the worst team of the season after only one year in the GDR league . Kurth played there for Motor Suhl until the end of the 1989/90 season. Ernst Kurth was Dieter Kurth's trainer in Suhl for several years, but the two are not related to each other. Dieter Kurth used the freedom of movement gained by the 1989 reunification and played from 1990 to 1995 for VfL Frohnlach in the then fourth-class Bayernliga . He then worked as a recreational footballer in Veilsdorf , Gompertshausen and Hildburghausen. He also took up residence in Gompertshausen.

During his time in GDR football, Kurth's job was given as an administrative clerk, after which he acquired the A license as a football coach. He first trained the offspring of SG Unterland, followed by coaching activities at TSV Bad Königshofen and TSV Großbardorf. In Großbardorf, Kurth was a coach from 2007 to 2009 and led the team to promotion to the Regionalliga Süd. After a short interlude at the regional division 1. FC Eintracht Bamberg , Kurth took over the training of VfL Frohnlach, who are now playing in the sixth-class Bavarian regional league, at the beginning of the 2010/11 season. In March 2013 he returned to the Bamberg successor club FC Eintracht Bamberg , which he saved from relegation from the regional league. He was released from his post on September 19, 2013.
