Dieter L. Scharnagl

Dieter Ludwig Scharnagl (born May 6, 1941 in Friedberg , Bavaria ; † November 5, 2015 in Altötting ) was a German motorsport journalist.

Life

The former tax officer began his journalistic career in 1973 at the Sportfahrer magazine published by Axel Springer Verlag as a freelance journalist and photographer . His specialty was national and international rallying , which he reported on from 1973 to 1979 for trade magazines, daily newspapers and the German press agency . His abbreviation at the time was "DiLuScha".

From 1980 to 1998 he was head of the sports press at Audi AG and from 1999 to 2007 he was editor-in-chief of the association magazine of the German Motor Sport Federation in Frankfurt / Main. There he was also jointly responsible for the association's press and public relations work.

In addition, Scharnagl was involved as a book author, editor and photographer of motorsport books and, together with colleagues Peter M. Lill and Kuno Messmann, wrote two books about the two-time rally world champion Walter Röhrl , with whom he had also been close friends since 1974.
