Dieter Manzke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dieter Egon Wilfried Manzke (born November 1, 1939 in Damerow ; † August 9, 2001 in Dahlewitz ) was tortured to death in Dahlewitz by five young men between the ages of 17 and 22 in an empty garden bungalow. The motive of the perpetrators was a right-wing extremist attitude, which considers the homeless to be unworthy of life .

Life

Manzke had been unemployed since 1991 , until then he had been producing animal feed in the Dahlewitz “mill”. The homeless Dieter Manzke was tortured to death on August 9, 2001 in Dahlewitz , Brandenburg , Teltow-Fläming district , by five young men between the ages of 17 and 22 in an empty garden bungalow. When they were arrested , they said they had "felt disturbed" by the 61-year-old and wanted to "create order". One of the perpetrators, Dirk Baganz, then 22, belonged to the right-wing scene in the neighboring village of Mahlow .

The association offering perspective e. V. collected donations to enable the poor Manzke at least to have a dignified burial. A citizens' initiative from the neighboring town of Mahlow also campaigned for a “worthy memory of Dieter Manzke”, who had lived and worked in Dahlewitz for decades. "We also want to help with funeral costs, if necessary," said Cordyline Bartz of the "AG Tolerantes Mahlow". The responsible official administration in Rangsdorf ( Teltow-Fläming district ) announced that no one from their authority would attend the funeral.

The two main perpetrators, Dirk Baganz and Dirk Relitz, were each sentenced to 13 years in prison. Two of the three other perpetrators, 19-year-old Ronny R. and 21-year-old Ralf W., were sentenced to eight and seven years in prison for the murder of Dieter Manzke. They escaped a higher sentence only because they were subjected to juvenile criminal law, which limits the maximum sentence to ten years.
