Dieter Schütz (musician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dieter Schütz (born May 9, 1955 in Flensburg ; † September 25, 1991 there ) was a German musician and composer.

Dieter Schütz learned the accordion, recorder and acoustic guitar in his childhood and made his first experiences as a guitarist in an amateur rock band at the age of 15. From 1974 he played lead guitar in the Flensburg "WTS-Band", which was well known regionally at the time. This was followed by years of involvement as lead guitarist in the group "Zest", which he co-founded. During this time he was already composing electronic music in his home studio.

Schütz became a multi-instrumentalist; he composed and produced increasingly songs and tracks on which he played all instruments, acoustic as well as electronic, himself without exception. In 1981 his debut album TransVision was released on the "IC" ( Innovative Communication ) label . Several instrumental solo albums followed, released on Sky Records by German News Musikverlag, Hamburg. In 1985, together with Adelbert von Deyen , he was a guest on the radio show “ Vibrations ” with Winfrid Trenkler on WDR. In 1991, NDR television showed a short report and an interview about and with Dieter Schütz in the “Nordschau-Magazin”.

His variety of creative ideas and his workload were enormous. Shortly before his death he founded the pop rock trio "Deja Vue" with his partner Ulla Witt and his friend Adelbert von Deyen , from which the album Nightflight was later released. When Dieter Schütz died suddenly on September 25, 1991 at the age of 36, he left behind no less than 500 songs and instrumentals that he had composed and produced himself, of which only a fraction was released on LP / CD. Under the title Old Fashioned , an album was released in September 2009 with five new instrumental tracks by Adelbert von Deyen and five previously unreleased tracks by Dieter Schütz - on the occasion of the eighteenth anniversary of his death.

His grave is in the cemetery in the village of Sörup (Schleswig-Flensburg district).
