Dieter Schmoeckel

Dieter Schmoeckel (born June 2, 1931 in Berlin ; † October 26, 2013 in Stuttgart ) was a German mechanical engineer and university professor.

Life

Dieter Schmoeckel studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and the Technical University of Stuttgart . In 1965 he became a Dr.-Ing. PhD. In the same year he began his industrial career at Daimler-Benz AG, where he held management positions for over a decade. In 1976 he was appointed professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt , where he set up the Institute for Forming Technology, which later became the Institute for Production Technology and Forming Machines, as director and headed it until 1998.

Schmoeckel was a member of the working group forming, the Scientific Society for Production Engineering , the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) and the International Cold Forging Group (ICFG). From 1997 to 1998 he was Chairman of the Scientific Technical Committee Forming at CIRP. From 1989 to 1993 he was a member of the Annals' Editorial Committee of the CIRP.

Corps student

During his studies Schmoeckel became active in the Corps Teutonia Berlin (WSC) and Corps Rhenania Stuttgart . He was the author of the history of the Corps Rhenania Stuttgart from 1859 to 1994. From 1997 to 2000 he was chairman of the Weinheimer Association of Old Corps Students . Rhenania made him an honorary boy in 1989 because of his great services to the Corps. Since 2009 he has been a member of the Corps Berlin
