Dieter Schneider (Economist)

Dieter Schneider (born April 2, 1935 in Striegau, today Strzegom , Poland , † April 26, 2014 in Bochum ) was a German economist .

Life

After studying business administration and subsequent doctorate and habilitation, Dieter Schneider first held a chair for banking studies at the University of Frankfurt . In 1974 he accepted the call of the economic faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum , where he held the chair for business taxation until 2000 .

Schneider's scientific interest included taxes and finance in other areas of business administration and economics . As a result of his numerous publications he received from four other universities , the honorary doctorate . Schneider is one of the most cited German-speaking business economists .

Schneider had a particular research interest in Austrian Economics and New Institutional Economics . Through this integrative approach, he significantly shaped the direction of the Bochum Faculty of Economics, which specialized in the integration of economics and business theories.

Schneider wrote a total of well over 300 articles and a number of books, including the book Betriebswirtschaftslehre .

Dieter Schneider died on April 26, 2014 at the age of 79.
