Dieter Seelow

Dieter Seelow (born December 9, 1939 in Schorndorf ; † October 2, 2009 there ) was a German jazz musician . His instruments were the saxophone and the flute .

In the 1950s he was still playing dixieland , swing and mainstream jazz . In the 1960s he was interested in hard bop and soul jazz . In the 1970s he was one of the rock jazz propagandists in Germany.

After that he had to restrict concert appearances for health reasons and limit himself to studio work. In the last years of his life, however, he returned to the jazz scene. On the night of October 2nd to 3rd, 2009, he died of heart failure.

Since the beginning of 2009 he has been a consultant for the jazz label 7Jazz in Winnenden, on which his fusion jazz album album No one (recorded in 1997) was reissued.

From 1984 to 2009, Seelow held a seat on the Schorndorf municipal council for the SPD.
