Jan Jankeje

Jan Jankeje (born July 30, 1950 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ; actually Ján Jankeje ) is a ( jazz ) musician, composer , bassist , band leader and producer.

Live and act

Jankeje emigrated to Germany in the Prague Spring in 1968 and has lived in Weinsberg north of the Stuttgart area ever since . He worked with international jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald , Benny Goodman , Eugen Cicero , Al Casey , Benny Waters , Attila Zoller , George Wein , Joe Pass , Tal Farlow , Horst Jankowski , Oscar Klein and Jaco Pastorius ; he also toured with Dieter Bihlmaier and with Hans-Jürgen Bocks Ragtime Specht Groove . With his wife Gerti Jankejova he founded his own record company Jazzpoint Records in 1974. In addition to his own records, Biréli Lagrène's first recordings , with whom he worked for eight years from 1979, as well as studio and live recordings by Jaco Pastorius appeared on this label . With Bernd Marquart he founded the Jazz Jokers in 1988 , which debuted in the same year with a CD of the same name, toured internationally and played at festivals ( Edinburgh Jazz Festival ). He also played gypsy jazz with Wedeli Köhler , Diz Dizley and Manno Guttenberger.

Jankeje wrote the song First Tango , to which Jeanne Moreau dances in Rainer Werner Fassbinder 's last film Querelle .
