Dietmar Buchmann

Dietmar Buchmann (* 1944 in Schleswig ) is a German painter and filmmaker.

Life

Buchmann passed his Abitur in 1965 at the humanistic branch of the old grammar school in Flensburg and then studied painting under Professor Hann Trier at the Berlin University of the Arts . From 1968 to 1971 he studied at the German Film and Television Academy . In 1998 Buchmann founded the Künstlerhof Frohnau together with others . Dietmar Buchmann was married to Hilde Heim , who made the 2007 documentary The painter Dietmar Buchmann - The things behind being about her husband. They lived together in Berlin. Today he lives in Wendland , where he shot the film Stadtflucht in 1975 .

As an author, director and producer, Dietmar Buchmann has made 60 feature films, documentaries, children's and short films as well as feature and documentary games for cinema and public television.

Dietmar Buchmann uses various techniques as a painter. He sees himself as a syncretist and processes Christian as well as other religious motifs in his pictures and connects them with ideas of pop culture and current events.
