Dietmar Hoscher

Dietmar Hoscher (born June 5, 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and former member of the Austrian National Council and Federal Council .

Hoscher attended elementary school and, from 1972, the Bundesrealgymnasium in Vienna. After graduating in 1980, Hoscher studied economics at the University of Vienna and graduated in 1984 with the academic degree Mag. Rer. soc. oec. from.

After completing his studies, he was a research assistant at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute until 1985 and an economics officer at the Oesterreichische Nationalbank from 1986 to 1988 . Between 1989 and 1995 Hoscher worked as a club secretary in parliament and from 1995 to 1998 he was ministerial secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance .

From 1998 to 2019 he worked in the management of Casinos Austria . In 2000, Hoscher also became a member of the board of the Austrian Sports Betting Company.

From 2012, Hoscher was a member of the ORF Foundation Council , which elected him as its chairman in May 2014. In May 2018, Norbert Steger succeeded him in this position.

Dietmar Hoscher is chairman of the board of trustees of SK Rapid Wien and was nominated in 2009 by Rapid President Rudolf Edlinger as a candidate for president of the Austrian Bundesliga. However, he was defeated in the vote to Hans Rinner .

Since 2005 he has been the artistic director of the Vienna Blues Springs , a blues festival that has been held annually in Vienna since 2005.

Between 1998 and 2003 Hoscher was secretary of the Central Control Commission of the ÖGB . On October 22, 1999, he was elected to the Federal Council by the Vienna State Parliament, to which he was a member until December 18, 2002. He moved to the National Council on December 20, 2002, but left parliament again after the 2006 National Council election.
