Vienna Blues Spring

The Vienna Blues Spring is a blues festival that has been held annually in Vienna since 2005 and consists of a series of blues concerts. The festival opens the season of the European blues festivals and complements the subsequent Jazz Fest Wien .

The venues are the Reigen, the foyer of Fernwärme Wien and Hall F of the Wiener Stadthalle . The 2010 Bluesspring will be complemented by two evenings in the Mozarthaus Vienna , an unusual venue for blues concerts. Thematically it is the turn of the variety of music, from classic Delta Blues and Chicago Blues on Blue Rock and Soul Blues to Boogie Woogie and modern varieties, obliged. International acts but also local artists perform. The series of events under the artistic direction of Dietmar Hoscher extends over five weeks and takes place in March and April.

Artists who performed in 2010 included Magic Slim & The Teardrops, Coco Montoya Band feat. Meena Vintage Guitar All Stars, Charlie Musselwhite , Chris Jagger & Charlie Hart, The Mojo Blues Band , Abi Wallenstein & BluesCulture, Darrell Nulisch Band, Chris Farlowe & Hamburg Blues Band feat. Clem Clempson , Mike Morgan and Lee McBee .

Guests at previous festivals have included John Lee Hooker junior , Popa Chubby , The Mojo Blues Band feat. John Primer , Hans Theessink Band, Duke Robillard Band, Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes, Mark Selby & Band, Bernard Allison , Steve Gardner, Big Jay McNeely , Mojo Buford , Shemekia Copeland & Band and The Fabulous Thunderbirds feat. Kim Wilson .
