Monterey Bay Blues Festival
The Monterey Bay Blues Festival has been an annual blues festival in Monterey , California since 1986 .
history
The festival was founded in 1986 by a group of local citizens as a non-profit organization to preserve and pass on the art form blues. After modest beginnings in 1986, the festival grew over time and is now regularly sold out. The festival is supervised by over 300 volunteers. The festival is managed and programmed by a Board of Directors under the direction of Julie Paisant.
There is plenty on the fourth weekend in June at the Monterey Fairgrounds. This year the festival celebrates its 25th anniversary from June 25th to 27th. Artists who perform include Rory Block , Deanna Bogart , Tommy Castro , Teeny Tucker, Chick Willis, Johnny Rawls, and others.
The activities around the festival also include "Blues at School" in the school district responsible, and there are other events on the festival weekend.
