The Lucerne Blues Festival is a year in the 1995 Swiss city of Lucerne take-find blues festival .

history

Feeling that there are not enough blues concerts in Switzerland, a group founded a non-profit organization that organized the first Lucerne Blues Festival. This access is still an obligation for the organizers today. The festival is still organized by volunteers as it was at the beginning. Your goals are:

  • help the blues to become better known
  • Blues fans should be able to experience true, real world-class blues in Switzerland too
  • the musicians should be the focus

Blues musicians around the world have recognized that the festival focuses on art and not on commerce and is happy to come to Switzerland. The festival takes place in the Grand Casino Luzern. In addition to the concerts, the festival also organizes a cultural education program (blues at school).

In 2007, the Lucerne Blues Festival was awarded the Keeping the Blues Alive Award of the Blues Foundation in the category International . The prize is awarded for significant achievements in the background of the blues scene. For several years now, live recordings of concerts at the Lucerne Blues Festival have been made, which are published by the German Cross Cut label in the series In the House . The 2003 recording of a concert by Otis Clay was nominated for the 2006 Blues Music Award in the Soul Blues Album of the Year category.
