Rusty Zinn (* 1970 in Long Beach , California ) is an American blues guitarist.

Life

He was introduced to the blues by his brother who, when he was fifteen, played him records by Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf. But even before that, he 'd listened to records from his mother's rhythm and blues collection . Rusty Zinn began playing guitar at the age of 17, influenced by the styles of Jimmy Rogers , Eddie Taylor , Robert Lockwood Jr. and Luther Tucker . Tucker became a central figure in his career when he invited Zinn to jam with him on a gig in Santa Cruz. Tucker was so impressed with Zinn's enthusiasm and intensity that he took him under his wing.

Zinn soon made a name for himself as a member of various blues bands from the Bay Area . He also played for touring blues greats like Snooky Pryor and Jimmy Rogers because of his growing reputation . He later played with Mark Hummel , the harmonica player. During one of the numerous appearances he met Kim Wilson , who invited him to be in Austin for the recordings for his CD "Tigerman". Zinn also became the guitarist of the band that Wilson put together and impressed him with the maturity Zinn had reached at an early age. In 1996, Wilson brought Zinn to Black Top Records , for which he recorded two critically and popularly acclaimed albums. Since then he has been touring a lot and is at important blues festivals such as B. The Monterey Jazz Festival , The Long Beach Blues Festival , Blues by the Bay and The Russian River Blues Festival. Today he continues his musical development, guided by his love for soul, R&B, blues, reggae and rock.
