Bob Margolin (born May 9, 1949 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American blues guitarist and singer who was a member of Muddy Waters' band from 1973 to 1980 , where he replaced Sammy Lawhorn . His nickname is Steady Rollin 'Bob Margolin .

Life

In 1964 Margolin began to play the guitar. His first musical appearance was in 1967 at the age of 18 as lead guitarist in the psychedelic rock band The Freeborne on their only album Peak Impressions , on which he contributed the song Hurtin 'Kind of Woman .

From 1980 Margolin had his own band, with which he recorded a number of albums from 1989. In 2003 the album The Bob Margolin All-Star Blues Jam was released , which featured Pinetop Perkins , Hubert Sumlin , Carey Bell , Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and Mookie Brill . The "Bob Margolin All-Star Band" was nominated for a Handy Award as Blues Band of the Year. In 2005 Bob Margolin was nominated as a guitarist for a Handy Award. In 2004 he received a Handy Award for Best Re-Issue for Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live Legacy Edition . Since that year he has also been writing regularly for the Blues Revue magazine and the online blues magazine Blueswax.

Between 1995 and 2005 he played eight times at the Handy Awards shows in Memphis, mostly as a guitarist in an all-star band. At these concerts he performed with Scotty Moore , Joe Louis Walker , Shemekia Copeland , Marcia Ball , Tracy Nelson , Reba Russell , Kim Wilson , Snooky Pryor , Charlie Musselwhite , Chris Layton, Pinetop Perkins , Rod Piazza , Dr. John , Ronnie Earl , Duke Robillard , Willie Kent , Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and Calvin "Fuzz" Jones .

Bob Margolin is on the road with changing bands, including "The Bob Margolin Blues Band", "The Bob Margolin All-Star Blues Jam" and "The Muddy Waters Tribute Band ". In addition to these activities, Bob Margolin is also a sought-after producer.
