Mark Otis Selby

Mark Otis Selby (born 1960 or 1961 in Enid , Oklahoma ; † 18th September 2017 ) was an American guitarist , blues rock - singer , songwriter and producer .

Life

He moved to Nashville in the 1990s after graduating from Fort Hays State University with a degree in composition. As a writer, Selby has had more than ten top 40 hits, including four that topped the charts. Selby co-wrote Kenny Wayne Shepherd , with whom he wrote Blue on Black , a single that was voted 1998 Rock Track of the Year by Billboard Magazine .

He also wrote many country songs, including for Trisha Yearwood and Wynonna Judd . Together with his wife Tia Sillers, he wrote There's Your Trouble for the Dixie Chicks , with which the group won their first Grammy .
