Dietmar Kreusel

Dietmar Kreusel (born January 9, 1941 in Breslau ) is a German diplomat . From July 2004 to July 2006 he was the last ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Nigeria .

education and study

After training as a reserve officer in the Bundeswehr ( Air Force ), where he most recently achieved the rank of major dR, he completed a degree in political science, public law, history and economics at the University of Freiburg and Mainz. This was followed by a doctorate in 1970. phil.

He is a member of the Catholic student union KStV Germania-Hohentwiel Freiburg.

Foreign service

After joining the Foreign Service in 1971, he was employed at the German embassies in Somalia , Bangladesh , at the German Consulate General in Boston / USA and at the German embassies in Jamaica and Ethiopia . In between there were uses in the Foreign Office in Bonn (NATO department and in the protocol department).

From 1995 to 1998 he was Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Foreign Office. Before moving to Nigeria, Dr. Kreusel from 1998 to July 2004 Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Tunisia . Ambassador Peter Schmidt was his successor there .
