Dietmar Peters (born August 8, 1949 in Grapzow , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) is a former German ice hockey player (defender) and currently coach of the Eisbären Juniors Berlin school team .

Career

player

Dietmar Peters started ice hockey in Rostock at the then resident SG Dynamo Rostock . Until he was 13, Dietmar Peters played both ice hockey and soccer . He even played two international matches for the GDR's soccer student selection . Peters decided to go ice hockey after all, at the age of 15 he played in the men's team at Empor Rostock, the successor to SG Dynamo Rostock. As a result of the restructuring of ice hockey in the GDR, in which only Berlin and Weißwasser should be played, Empor Rostock was dissolved. He was therefore offered to switch to SC Dynamo Berlin , which he did together with his brother Roland Peters and Friedhelm Bögelsack . He was active as a defense attorney for Berlin until 1986.

In 1999 the Halle Saaleteufel from the regional league approached Peters and asked if he would like to lace up his skates for them again. Dietmar Peters, then 49 years old, gladly complied with this request and met old companions from the Dynamo era in the team, including playing in Halle with Wolfgang Plotka , Harald Kuhnke , Rainer Patschinski and Thomas Graul . Until 2001, Peters still laced up the ice skates for the Saale devils from Halle, with whom he rose one class every year.

Dietmar Peters wore the GDR jersey 315 times at world championships (A and B groups) and the Olympic Games. According to various sources, there are a few more games that have not yet been officially recognized. Nevertheless, Dietmar Peters is the sole record player for the national ice hockey team of the GDR .

Trainer

In 1986 he moved to the junior division of SC Dynamo Berlin . From September to October 1993 he formed a coaching team with Klaus Schröder at EHC Eisbären Berlin . This was his only coaching station in the men's field to date. After this short intermezzo, Peters went back to the polar bears' junior division. In the 2001/02 season, Dietmar Peters and his students of the Eisbären Juniors Berlin became German champions.
