Dietmar Pohl (cyclist)

Dietmar Pohl (* 1. March 1957 in Magdeborn ) is a former German cyclist and DDR -Master in cycling .

Athletic career

Pohl began cycling in Markkleeberg at the age of 12 in 1969 in the children's group of the  ASK Vorwärts Markkleeberg . Like all 3,200 residents of the village, he and his family had to leave their hometown beforehand, as Magdeborn had to give way to open- cast brown coal mining . He was a member of the ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt an der Oder until 1978 , after moving to Frankfurt. In his successful youth as a cyclist he was a. a. Winner of the street races for children and young people . In the men's class he was GDR champion in 1978 in the team pursuit on the track with his club mates Norbert Dürpisch , F. Müller and Hans-Joachim Pohl .

Professional

From 1978 to 1991, Pohl worked as a junior coach in Frankfurt an der Oder. Since 1992 he has been an employee of the Michelin tire works.

Familiar

Dietmar Pohl is the older brother of Hans-Joachim Pohl, who was world champion in points driving at the UCI rail world championships in 1982 .
