Dietmar Gerhard Stüdemann (born October 20, 1941 in Wels , Austria ) is a German diplomat , lawyer and economist.

Youth, training and studies

Dietmar Stüdemann was born on October 20, 1941 in the Upper Austrian city ​​of Wels. After graduating from high school, Stüdemann studied law, Slavic studies and sociology in Germany and France.

Foreign service

Since 1972 he has been a member of the Federal Foreign Office and, among other things, Head of Division in the Political Department and the Economic Department of the Foreign Office in Berlin and between 2000 and 2006 German Ambassador to Ukraine at the German Embassy in Kiev . After his retirement, from 2006 to October 2007 he was an advisor to the Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko on behalf of the Foreign Office . Since July 11, 2019, he has been Honorary Chancellor of the Ukrainian-American Concordia University in Kiev.

Private

Since 2008 he has been an advisor to Deutsche Bank for the post-Soviet area. He is also a board member of the German Pushkin Society and the German-Ukrainian Forum.

Since March 1977 he was married to Karin Countess von der Schulenburg from the Tressow family (1934-2015).
