Dietrich Hohmann (doctor)

Dietrich Hohmann (born July 22, 1930 in Munich ; † February 17, 2012 in Erlangen ) was a German orthopedic surgeon . His research and surgical practice focused on diseases and injuries of the spine as well as the hip and knee joints.

Career

Hohmann studied medicine from 1949 to 1954 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he received his doctorate in 1960 . After completing his habilitation in 1967, he moved to the Free University of Berlin , where he was temporarily head of the orthopedic clinic for two years as a private lecturer . In 1969 he accepted a call to the chair of orthopedics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg , in whose orthopedic clinic he was a board member until 1998.

In 1979 he became chairman of the congress professional association of specialists in orthopedics, since 1984 he was president of the German Society for Orthopedics and Traumatology , which is now called the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery .
