Dietrich von Brühl

Dietrich Graf von Brühl (born December 1, 1925 in Königsberg , † November 13, 2010 in Vienna ) was a German diplomat .

Life

Among other things, von Brühl served as the German ambassador to Austria from 1986 to 1990. At the time of the fall of the Wall, he was the first all-German ambassador in Vienna . In 1990 Brühl was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for its “cross-border cultural activity” and the Great Golden Decoration of Honor on Ribbon for Services to the Republic of Austria .

He is the grandson of Friedrich-Franz Graf von Brühl (1848–1911) and the son of Georg Graf von Brühl (1882–1976). The author Christine von Brühl is his daughter.

He was a member of the Catholic student union KStV Tuiskonia-Monasteria Münster.
