Dihydrothymine is a heterocyclic organic compound with a hydrogenated pyrimidine backbone. It is a derivative of the nucleobase thymine . It is a base analog and a breakdown product of thymine.
Thymine is hydrogenated to dihydrothymine by dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase .
