Dilarə Əliyeva

Dilarə Ələkbər qızı Əliyeva , alternative spelling: Dilara Alakbar qizi Aliyeva (born December 14, 1929 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR ; † April 19, 1991 in Qax , Azerbaijani SSR ) was an Azerbaijani philologist , translator, feminist and politician .

Life

Əliyeva studied Oriental Studies at the State University in Baku in Azerbaijan after that and worked on Nezami Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, where it joins the Azerbaijani literature occupied the early periods. Among other things, she specialized in the medieval poet Nezāmi and on the comparison of Azeri with Georgian literature. In the meantime she worked for several years in Tbilisi , Georgia at the Georgian Academy of Sciences , where she discovered the original manuscripts of the Azerbaijani poet Musahib Ganjavi for his Koroghlu epic, the authenticity of which has now been confirmed.

Politically, she joined the opposition party of the Azerbaijani Popular Front in 1988 and soon rose to a leadership position. In addition, Əliyeva founded the Azerbaijani Society for Women's Rights .

Furthermore Əliyeva was from 1990 until her death a member of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan ("Supreme Council").

In 1991 she died in a car accident. A street in Baku and the company it founded now bear her name.
