Dimitrios Mougios

Dimitrios Mougios (* 13. October 1981 in Maroussi ) is a retired Greek lightweight - rowers .

Athletic career

Mougios finished sixth in the double sculls at the 1999 Junior World Championships . In 2000 he finished eighth in the same boat class at the U23 World Championships .

In 2005 Mougios rowed in the Rowing World Cup in the lightweight single , but only reached the B final in both Eton and Lucerne. In 2006 Mougios and Ilias Pappas took seventh place in the lightweight double scull at the World Cup opener in Munich. At the World Cup finals in Lucerne he rowed together with Vasileios Polymeros to third place in this boat class, and at the World Championships in Eton , the two achieved ninth place. A year later, at the 2007 World Championships in Munich, the Danes Mads Rasmussen and Rasmus Quist won , behind them Mougios and Polymeros received the silver medal in front of the British Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter . Three weeks later the Hungarians Zsolt Hirling and Tamás Varga won the European Championships , Polymeros and Mougios also won the silver medal here. The two Greeks received another silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Here Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter won ahead of the Greeks and the Danish world champions of 2007. Neither the British two-man nor the Danes competed at the 2008 European Championships , here the two Greeks won the title at the end of the season. In August 2009 at the World Championships in Poznan , Mougios and Georgios Konsolas took seventh place in the lightweight double scull . Three weeks later at the European Championships in 2009 , Mougios competed again with Vasileios Polymeros and defended his title from the previous year. At the end of his career, Mougios finished seventh in the lightweight single at the 2010 European Championships .

Dimitrios Mougios, who was 1.91 m tall for a lightweight rower, had the typical weight of 72 kg for a lightweight rower.
