Dimitrios Pappas ( Greek Δημήτριος Παππάς , born February 25, 1980 in Ioannina ) is a former Greek football player and today's coach.

Career

Dimitrios Pappas grew up in Germany and played in various lower-class clubs from his youth, before he was used for the first time in the third-highest league in 2005 during his year at Rot-Weiss Essen . The substitution shortly before the end of a game against Holstein Kiel, however, was his only appearance for the Essen first team. The following year he moved to the Oberliga Nordrhein to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . There the Greek was a regular player in central defense from the start. With the Oberhausen team he not only managed to return to the regional league in 2006/07 , but even made it through to the 2nd Bundesliga . Since 2008 Pappas has been playing as a professional footballer in the Red-Whites' squad, where he still has a contract until 2012. After relegation to the 3rd division in 2011 , Pappas was named the new captain of the clovers. After six years in Oberhausen, Pappas signed a contract with SSVg Velbert on July 3, 2012 . He played with the Niederbergische in the Regionalliga West for two years and was relegated to the Oberliga in 2014.

In the summer of 2015, SpVgg Erkenschwick announced the commitment of Pappas. After only six games in the Oberliga Westfalen, he dissolved the contract during the winter break and returned to RWO. There he played for the second team, which had to relegate from the Oberliga Niederrhein to the Landesliga in summer 2016 . In mid-August he succeeded Mike Terranova, who had switched to the first team, coach of the second team. After the 2016/2017 season, RWO announced its second team from the game and Pappas then took over the coaching position in the U19 of the club.
