Dinka (band)
Dinka is a Swiss Progressive House project by musician and DJ Tamara Maria Kler. Dinka was a member of the Swiss house music community Helvetic Nerds until 2013 .
Band history
Helvetic Nerds founded the Dinka project in 2007. In 2010, Tamara Maria Kler (bourgeois Tamara Hunkeler) joined as a front woman. The first release , an EP called The Sin , came off the Unreleased Digital digital record label , which is run by Chris Reece . The mix of modern trance and house elements has been Dinka's typical trademark ever since. The influence of bands like Enigma (music project) or Deep Forest can also be clearly heard on many of the songs. The first studio album called Temptation was released in spring 2008 on the record label S2 Records .
The singles Temptation , Chemistry and Asylum all became international club hits and were regularly played by DJ greats such as Paul van Dyk (who later re-released Temptation on his own label Vandit Records ), Pete Tong , Above & Beyond , Armin van Buuren and others .
The second studio album Hotel Summerville was released in June 2010 on the record label Unreleased Digital. The album contained eleven singles already released between 2008 and 2010 and three previously unreleased songs, including the theme song Hotel Summerville in a lounge version.
In June 2011 her third studio album Tales Of The Sun was released . For the first time the album was released commercially on CD. The two single releases On The Beach and Reach For Me could not reach any noteworthy chart positions.
Once a year Dinka releases a single on the British record label Above & Beyond by Anjunadeep . These songs are not on the studio albums.
In 2011 Dinka was voted 300th in the DJ-Mag voting. This made her the ninth-placed female DJ in the world. In the previous year it was placed in 226th place.
After several collaborations with singers like Angelika Vee or Julie Thompson in 2012, Dinka toured India, Indonesia and other Asian countries.
After the release of Polarity , Dinka started a “Remix Contest” in collaboration with the Unreleased Digital label . The package was launched in late 2012. The focus was on young, hopeful music producers from all over the world.
At the beginning of 2013, she released a remake of her single Elements , released in 2009, in collaboration with the duo Leventina . The production is a mix of her own spherical-melodic style and a more commercial touch on the part of Leventina.
In March 2013 the annual compilation Croatia - The Opening 2013 was released on the label Unreleased Digital , in which Tamara Maria Kler participated as A&R . This year's compilation included not only Chill Out , but also pieces from the deep house sector. The basic concept remained summery.
In 2013 Tamara Maria Kler decided to leave the house music community Helvetic Nerds.
Radio shows and podcasts
Once a month (on the first Friday evening) Dinka broadcasts an hour-long, moderated radio show called The Helvetic Nerds Radio Show . The first show was in September 2008 on the online radio station pure.fm broadcast. Since August 2010, the radio show has also been broadcast on Proton Radio every second Thursday of the month. In the programs, Dinka usually plays her own and other songs that are not yet published at the time of broadcast.
