EDX (born November 2, 1976 in Zurich ; actually Maurizio Colella ) is a Swiss DJ and music producer specializing in house , deep house and progressive house .
Career
In 1994 the first EDX mix cassettes appeared for the well-known tarot parties that were held at Club Oxa in Zurich. A little later he started a collaboration with Leon Klein , with whom he produced numerous compilations between 1999 and 2004, especially for the techno event Energy . Her most famous single was "Gonna Catch You", which was released in 2000 by Warner Music Switzerland , among others . Together they also produced a number of remixes by Kool & The Gang , Armand Van Helden and Steve Angello , among others .
After a hiatus of over 3 years, EDX returned to the music business and had success in 2007 with his remix of Dubfire's song Roadkill . The song was selected by Armin van Buuren , among others, for his compilation Universal Religion Chapter 3 . He then received remix requests from well-known artists such as Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5 , Kaskade , Axwell , Sebastian Ingrosso , Laidback Luke and Dirty South . In 2009 he was listed by Beatport in the Top 3 Progressive House Artists of 2009 alongside Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz .
Since March 2011, EDX has broadcast a one-hour, moderated radio show called No Xcuses once a week .
EDX lives in Zurich and is part of the Swiss house group Helvetic Nerds . He is also the owner and managing director of a corporation which he founded in 2002 and which today comprises ten music labels. He also worked as a graphic designer for a long time. In 1995 he founded the graphic studio "EDX Design" and designed numerous record covers for Energy Compilations and DJ Tatana , with whom he was in a relationship for 15 years. For 10 years he was also her manager. The couple split in 2009.
EDX released his debut album On the Edge in 2012 , which was released as a remix version in 2014.
