Diomira Jacobini

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Diomira Jacobini (born May 21, 1899 in Rome ; † September 13, 1959 ) was an Italian actress who worked extensively in domestic and German silent films .

Live and act

Diomira Jacobini came to film at the age of 13 through her older sister Maria Jacobini , who had been filming since 1910 . Though well busy especially in the 1910s and early 1920s, Diomira Jacobini never managed to achieve the same star status as her sister. Diomira was cast in comedies as well as in dramas and in the first ten years of her career worked with well-known early Italian directors such as Carmine Gallone , Gennaro Righelli , Emilio Ghione , Mario Caserini and Mario Camerini .

When her career came to an end in the course of the 1920s, she occasionally accepted film offers from Germany, where she was seen as the partner of well-known artists such as Werner Krauss , Gösta Ekman and Walter Rilla . As a result of the switch from silent to sound film, Jacobini, who was hardly powerful in Germany, returned home to Italy in 1930, where, however, she was no longer able to assert herself on the screen. After only two sound films, Diomira Jacobini withdrew into private life.
