Dirk Brossé

Dirk Brossé (born February 18, 1960 in Ghent ) is a Belgian composer and conductor .

Live and act

Dirk Brossé began his musical training at the Music Academy with Georges Vanhoute , a trombonist of the Belgian military brass orchestra , the Groot Harmonieorkest van de Belgische Gidsen , who gave him essential impulses to focus on the subject of music professionally. He studied music theory , harmony , trumpet and piano at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent . Here he graduated with a diploma and then moved to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels , where he completed his studies in counterpoint and fugue . Further studies followed in orchestral conducting with Anton Kersjes and Lucas Vis , studies with Julius Kalmar completed his skills. François Glorieux , Frédéric Devreese and Leonard Bernstein as lecturers left a lasting impression. Finally, he studied at the Musikhochschule in Cologne with Volker Wangenheim .

1974 and 1979 bring him to the United States of America as solo trumpeter with the National Youth Brass Band of Belgium and with the National Youth Orchestra of Belgium . In 1981 and 1983 he accompanied the World Youth Orchestra on its concert tours. Since 1984 he has appeared as a guest conductor in Chicago, Vienna, Cologne and Amsterdam. Since 1999 he has been artistic director of the Tokyo International Music Festival and the Flemish Film Festival. He founded the Trumpet Choir in Brussels.

Brossé is Professor of Conducting and Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent and Artistic Director of the Brussels Symphony Orchestra, Chief Conductor of the National Youth Orchestra of Belgium. He has conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra , the KBS Symphony Orchestra (South Korea), the World Symphony Orchestra (Japan), the Ulster Orchestra , the Camerata (Saint Petersburg), the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra as well as the national orchestras of Venezuela , Colombia and Ecuador .
