Dirk Schatz (politician, 1970)

Dirk Schatz (born December 12, 1970 in Lutherstadt Eisleben ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and was District Administrator of the Mansfeld-Südharz district from 2007 to 2014 . He was also the mayor of Volkstedt from 2001 to 2008 .

Professional background

Schatz graduated from the Polytechnic High School until 1987 , before he graduated from high school in 1989 after two more years at the company vocational school. He then studied law at the University of Jena until 1993 , before graduating from the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration from 1993 to 1997 with a degree in finance. From 1997 he was a tax officer at the Halle-Nord tax office in the general appeal office.

Political career

From 2001 to 2003, Schatz was a member of the SPD before joining the CDU in 2003. From 1999 to 2001 he was an independent community representative in Volkstedt and deputy mayor. He has been the local mayor since 2001. In 2004 he was elected to the district council of the district of Mansfelder Land and in 2007 he became district administrator of the newly established district of Mansfeld-Südharz. On June 15, 2014, he lost the runoff in the district election against Angelika Klein . On November 14, 2015, he announced his resignation from the CDU.

MP

From March 26, 2006 to July 27, 2007, Schatz was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt , after winning the election in constituency 33 ( Eisleben ) with 32.2%. He left his parliamentary seat to Wolfgang Böhmer . During his parliamentary period, he was a member of the Finance Committee and the Audit Subcommittee.
