Dirk Sommerfeld (born August 7, 1960 ) is a former German handball player .
Sommerfeld, who came up with the shirt number 8, mostly played on the left backcourt . As a youth, Sommerfeld started at MTV Leck . As an active person he switched to THW Kiel . After only one season he went to TSB Flensburg . After two years he returned to Kiel and stayed for five years before moving back to Flensburg in 1986 for TSB Flensburg / SG Weiche-Handewitt . In 1990 he ended his career in Flensburg.
During his time as a Bundesliga player, he scored 365 goals in a total of 176 Bundesliga games, 45 of them by seven meters . For the national team , Sommerfeld played two international matches in which he scored three goals.
