Dirk Vöpel

Dirk Vöpel (* 29. May 1971 in Oberhausen ) is a German politician of the SPD and since 2013 a member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Vöpel first attended the municipal kindergarten on Rechenacker and the Landwehr elementary school on Rechenacker, both in Oberhausen-Alstaden . He left the Elsa-Brändström-Gymnasium in 1991 with the Abitur. After his community service with the working group for the disabled and non-disabled in the Catholic town hall in Mülheim an der Ruhr , he studied law at the Ruhr University in Bochum . In 1998 he founded the Service Agency Vöpel, a service company with a focus on new media and IT trade and IT service.

Vöpel is divorced and has a daughter.

Vöpel became a member of the SPD in 1988 and soon headed the Jusos working group in the Oberhausen-West local association. From 1992 to 1994 he was chairman of the Oberhausen Jusos. In 2005 he became chairman of the local SPD association in Oberhausen-West, after having been a deputy for ten years. In 1994 he was elected to the district council of Alt-Oberhausen , and in 1999 to the city council. After the death of the district mayor of Alt-Oberhausen Josef Loege, Vöpel was elected as his successor in 2011. With an internal area code within the SPD Oberhausen and Dinslaken, he could u. a. enforce against the Oberhausen Juso chairman Maximilian Janetzki.

In the federal election in 2013 he ran for the first time for the direct mandate in the constituency of Oberhausen - Wesel III . In the traditional SPD stronghold, he was able to clearly prevail against Marie-Luise Dött . In the 18th Bundestag , Vöpel is a full member of the Defense Committee .

Member of the Presidium of the German Defense Society (DWT). Vöpel is a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
