Positions and Criticism

Climate change

Dött sees global warming as not only caused by mankind and calls for a move away from climate protection , which, in her opinion, would place new burdens on the economy. At a discussion event organized by the Bundestag member Paul Friedhoff (FDP), at which the controversial physicist Fred Singer also appeared, Dött criticized the climate protection policy of the then red-green federal government as a "substitute religion". She complained that most people are "easy to influence and easy to handle", and said ironically that doubters "can be ostracized, they may have to confess, they then have to go to purgatory or even go to hell if they are really bad" . Dött described Singer's remarks as "very, very plausible". By this she meant that other positions that are not in accordance with the red-green “substitute religion” and contain considerable reservations about it must be heard and respected. In a later press release, Dött explained that they basically use the term substitute religion to characterize those who try to give climate protection a political priority and make it the sole yardstick of energy policy. A spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group said that Dött's statements did not correspond to the group's opinion. Looking back nine years later, the Süddeutsche Zeitung stated that this incident was the only time that Dött had "caused a major stir" politically.

Nuclear power

Since the agreement between the CDU and FDP, Dött has been committed to an accelerated phase-out of nuclear energy, but she emphasized: "A headlong rebuilding according to the motto 'cost what he wants' is not feasible with us." Attitude regarding the ambitious climate protection policy based on economic efficiency and social balance confirmed.

During the series of accidents in the Japanese Fukushima I nuclear power plant as a result of the earthquake on March 11, 2011, Dött spoke out in favor of maintaining the lifetime extension of German nuclear power plants . On the occasion of the accidents, it should be checked whether the safety standards in Germany should be tightened.

Ethanol fuel E-10

Dött is positive about the introduction of the petrol / ethanol fuel E10 and is in favor of further introduction.
