Dirk van Betteray

Dirk van Betteray (born April 24, 1969 in Duisburg , Germany ) is a German musician, musicologist and music teacher.

biography

Dirk van Betteray studied Catholic church music at the Folkwang University in Essen (1993 A-exam in Catholic church music with distinction). Further studies in music didactics , philosophy and Catholic theology followed (2004 degree in liturgical studies ; music director studies ; vocal training).

In 1997 Dirk van Betteray was appointed Music Director FDB by the Association of German Professional Choir Directors. In 2002 he was appointed "Choir Director ADC". From 2002 to 2005 he completed a doctoral degree at the University of Art in Graz (2005 PhD (“summa cum laude”)).

Dirk van Betteray is the musical director of numerous instrumental and vocal ensembles, from amateur choirs to professional ensembles, and performs as an organist, harpsichordist, piano accompanist and conductor. He publishes and teaches in the area of Gregorian chant and has published numerous practice-oriented compositions and arrangements for choirs of all ensembles.

Dirk van Betteray is the director of the district choir in Oberberg and the educational director of the Morsbach Music School and the Homburg Community Music School with the affiliated Bergische Academy for Vocal Music.
