from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dirk van Teylingen, heer van Brederode (lat .: Theodericus de Theylingen) (* around 1180 ; † 1236 ) was a Dutch knight, and Dapifer of the Count of Holland. Coming from the lineage of Messrs. Van Teylingen , he appeared as Dirk I. van Brederode as the lord of the Messrs. Von Brederode .

Vita

Willem van Teylingen's son was given two different mothers, Maria van Castricum and Agnes van Bentheim (from the Gerulfinger dynasty ). Dirk van Teylingen-Brederode is seen as the founder of the Brederode company. He inherited the land and the Brederode Castle from his father ; as a result, he may not be considered the first (land) lord of Brederode.

In 1226 Dirk van Teylingen-Brederode was appointed to the court of the Dutch counts as landdrost . He served Count Floris V and William I of Holland. When the Count was absent, van Teylingen-Brederode was their first representative.

Dirk married Aleid (Alveradis) van Heusden in 1215; this marriage had at least six children:

  • Wilhelm von Brederode 1226–1285
  • Dirk van Brederode 1228- ± 1279, was knighted in 1255
  • Floris van Brederode 1230 → 1306, Lord of Doortoge
  • Aleidis van Brederode 1232- ± 1262
  • Catharina van Brederode 1234 - ????
  • Agnies van Brederode ± 1245- ± 1280

Dirk van Teylingen-Brederode is also considered the master of the noble van der Duyn family .
