Dirrfelden is a wasteland that belongs to the Biberach district of the Swabian community of Roggenburg in the Neu-Ulm district.

geography

The district is located around three kilometers west of the historic center of Roggenburg on a plateau between the valley of the Roth running to the west and that of the Biber east at an altitude of 542  m above sea level. NN . The surrounding area consists of extensive agricultural fields and forests. The Lochgraben runs to the north, and to the south there is an unnamed stream that flows into the Lochgraben.

history

It is assumed that Dirrfelden emerged as a clearing settlement as early as the Middle Ages and was a deserted farm.

The Bavarian cadastre shows Dirrfelden in the 1810s as a remote farm with a hearth and a well in a forest aisle, surrounded by dense mixed forest. The two streams have not yet been recorded, or they originated much further to the east. Its current sources are likely to have shifted westwards only after further clearing.

The first official report on Dirrfelden appears in the Biberach parish archive in 1824 and it was then inhabited by the Dirr family, which explains the name. The then courtier Augustin Dirr was put on record as a bankrupt in August 1839 and was invited to the Gant in September . At about the same time, Franz Dirr , who was probably doing business in the neighboring district of Schleebuch , also went into financial difficulties .

In 1927 the farm burned down during a thunderstorm, but was rebuilt. For a long time the farm was used for agriculture, later it was owned by a noble house and stood empty.

On July 1, 1972 Dirrfelden was incorporated into Roggenburg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . Today the farm is privately owned again.

Today a family of eight originally lives in Dirrfelden.

Population development

The population of Dirrfelden has been unsteady over the years, but has been less than ten people at all times.
