Dirty Heads is a US-based reggae-rock band from Orange County ( California ). Her debut album Any Port in a Storm was released on September 23, 2008 under Executive Music Group (Fontana / Universal).

biography

The band was formed in 1996 by Jared Watson and his friend Dustin “Duddy” Bushnell in Huntington Beach, Orange County, California. The two met at a party in their freshman year of high school and then met to jam, surf, and skate. When Watson heard a rap tape recorded by Dustin, he got the idea to work with Bushnell, who was already active in a punk band. Although he has never sung live, written a song, or been in a band, he decided to give the project a try. Later Jon Olazabal (percussions), Matt Ochoa (drums) and David Foral (bass) joined and shaped the style of the band. They came up with the name when they stole alcohol from a shop and the owner shouted after them "Come here you little dirty heads!". Rob Cavallo (producer of Green Day and My Chemical Romance, among others ) eventually brought The Dirty Heads to Warner Bros. , but due to differences they soon left the label, taking the recordings for Any Port in a Storm with them.

Shortly thereafter, they teamed up with producers Steve Fox and Stan Frazier. The album Any Port in a Storm includes one of the last performances by Beatles collaborator Billy Preston , as well as appearances by Josh Freese ( Nine Inch Nails , Korn ), Alex Acuña (Percussions), the Jamaican dancehall legend Tippa Ire and indie 103.1 Reggea -Host Native Wayne (on Neighborhood and Stand Tall). The album was mixed by Beastie Boys producer Mario C.

The Dirty Heads toured with 311 , Pepper , Kottonmouth Kings , Matisyahu and Sublime with Rome , among others . They were also part of marketing campaigns for Etnies and Vestal Watches.
