etnies is an American shoe manufacturer owned by Sole Technology, Inc. specializing in skateboard shoes and apparel; In the further range there are also products for snowboarders , surfers , BMX drivers and motocross drivers.
The company was founded in France in 1986 (at the time with ! ), But has been based in Huntington Beach since the late 1980s and is one of the oldest companies in the skate shoe market. Etnies was the first company to produce a signature skate shoe in the late 1980s. It was named after skateboarder Natas Kaupas .
In addition, the equally successful subsidiaries és and Emerica were founded in the mid-1990s.
Today Etnies mainly sponsors professional skaters, but also supports bands like My Chemical Romance , Hot Water Music , The Vines , Shadows Fall , Plüsch , Rise Against and Taking Back Sunday .
